15 Sep Kuniokoa– The Most Efficient Natural-Draft Wood Stove in Sub-Saharan Africa
BURN is proud to introduce the kuniokoaTM, our latest revolutionary biomass cookstove, which brings an unprecedented level of efficiency, emission reduction, and durability to cooks across the globe.
The kuniokoaTM is the most fuel-efficient ‘Rocket’ stove ever tested by University of Washington, attaining a High Power Thermal Efficiency of 40.4% and achieving an ISO/IWA Tier ‘3’ in 6 out of 8 categories. According to the University of Nairobi, the kuniokoaTM uses 31% less fuel and produces 71% less low-power PM2.5 than the leading US/Chinese Rocket Stove.
The kuniokoaTM is not only efficient, but it is also extremely durable. In our durability testing program, the kuniokoaTM has survived 3.5 years of continuous use. The kuniokoaTM comes with a 2-year warranty, the only one of its kind in East Africa.
The performance and durability of the kuniokoaTM has already transformed thousands of lives in East Africa and has the potential to transform the lives of the 500 million people in sub-Saharan Africa who rely solely on wood for cooking.
The kuniokoa is now available for purchase worldwide, with shipping from our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Nairobi Kenya. For more information please contact: [email protected].
We would like to acknowledge the support of US Department of Energy for providing a $1 million grant that funded a three-year partnership between University of Washington, Burn Design Lab and Burn Manufacturing Co. We would also like to thank Acumen and Unilever (through their ELII fund) for supporting the commercial launch of the kuniokoaTM. And finally, a big shout out to Larry Winiarski and his faithful at Aprovecho Research Center for designing the first Rocket stove over 30 years ago.
