BURN's Electric Pressure Cooker wins its Second LEAP Award for 'Best Usability'!

In our last newsletter, we highlighted that BURN’s ‘ECOA’ Electric Pressure Cooker had been awarded the “Most Affordable”  in the Global LEAP Awards. We’re happy to announce that the ECOA has won yet another LEAP award for ‘Best Usability’. The ECOA features an intuitive interface that allows cooks to make East African dishes with a touch of a button. BURN Launches New Productive Use Stove!

The Jikokoapro - our first Jikokoa designed for caterers, restaurants, and institutions - is a 50L stove that saves SMEs $41 each month, allowing them to pay for the stove in only two months! The Jikokoapro is the latest addition to our new line of Productive Use stoves that includes TURBOPro, Pro125, and EPC. If you are interested in learning more about this stove, please contact us. 

100,000 BURN Wood Stoves to Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Rwanda!

In the next month, BURN is supplying 100,000 Kuniokoa™ wood stoves to projects across Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Rwanda. These first deliveries are ‘Phase 1’ of a project that will soon supply 100,000’s of homes with a clean cooking solution, generating 1 million+ carbon offsets over the next 5 years. Dr. Sylvia Nelima Kokonya: Our First Chief Talent & Happiness Officer

BURN is pleased to promote Dr.Kokonya to our newest executive role as Chief Talent and Happiness officer. Dr. Kokonya is a highly versatile individual with vast experience ranging from project design and management, strategy development, recruiting to policy writing. She is also an experienced researcher, receiving her Ph.D. Environmental Engineering from Nottingham University, and has worked on sustainability research projects funded by both the European Union and commercial sources.

Factory Capacity Grows to 70,000 Stoves per Month!

BURN recently installed new 100T and 250T hydraulic presses, increasing our production capability to 70,000 stoves per month across LPG, Jikokoa, JikokoaPro, and Kuniokoa product lines. Capacity is set to grow to 90,000 units by Q1 2022. 

New Nairobi Office!

In June, we opened our first global commercial office in Nairobi for our Sales & Marketing, Carbon Offset, and Special Projects teams. This move provides a central point for our teams to work together and frees up space in the Ruiru factory for more production! Looking forward to hosting visitors soon.

Financing a Jikokoa for Low-income Households in Kenya!
Thanks to our international partners for financing BURN stoves to low-income households in Kenya. For some households, making an upfront payment for a stove is a real barrier to purchase, but with financing they can use their fuel savings to pay for the stove in ~4 months.
